is he really gonna struggle next to Jack?

Not saying he’s top line material,
but he can skate & score
Seems like the exact type of guy we want with Jack
And that line will be heavy in the offensive end & not getting much def zone time

And If it doesn’t work with Jack,
He can always be dropped down to the 3rd line with Mittelstadt

We will likely have to pay him more to get him here, but i don’t think it’ll have to be a long term deal

Don’t really see the downside as long as we don’t have to overpay him too much

He’s also gonna get offers from playoffs teams though,

From what I heard, O'Reilly is an incredibly nice dude and good teammate, but 100% does not want to be a role player.

Also said he's incredibly manipulative and the stuff he says to the media is very calculated, and has rubbed the locker room the worng way.

I totally believe that ROR is a cool dude when hockey is not the discussion. But I think he's got principles that make him think he deserves more than he gets. He has a track record of this attitude dating back to 2013.

Or
Okposo 5 more years at $6m

Maybe add picks either way, but we get out of the long term deal and Anaheim frees up $2.6m cap space.

Interesting proposal. Perry's starting to get crusty. I think Anaheim adds something, maybe a college prospect one or two years away who projects as a top 9. Kyle and Corey would need to approve the trade though.

that '05-6 team was a bit different with drury, briere, soupy...more talent but not as great in net, obviously

The thing is, he plays his best hockey when he plays for Canada, where he is not the main guy in the spotlight. All of the trade proposals I have seen seem to have ROR very underrated (and Hamilton, Skinner, etc overrated.)

If I'm trading ROR and I'm the Sabres I would be asking for a top end talent.

ROR, Nylander and 32nd for Tarasenko and the 45th.

The point is, people seem to think were obligated to sell RoR on the cheap and accept their players at a high value.

Carolina fans feels that RoR should be an even swap for Skinner or even that we should add, yet:

RoR Skinner
center > LW
60 per year > 50 pts per year
Strong defensively > defensive liability
Wins face offs > doesn't take face offs

Has 5 years left on deal. UFA next season.
plays on the worst team Plays on a better team


It really isn't comparable, we lose this trade.
